Deer Valley boys volleyball gelled during the mid-April Brophy Invitational and has clobbered most 4A foes since.
In the subsequent nine games the Skyhawks lost one five-set war - and only one other set. They aced a rematch with the opponent who took a set off them Thursday night to set up a state final showdown with the only team to beat them in the last month.
The Skyhawks left no doubt in Thursday's 4A semifinal. At home, #2 seed Deer Valley (29-11-1) grabbed an early advantage and never let go, sweeping #3 Estrella Foothills (33-5) 25-16, 25-16, 25-20.
