SUN CITY WEST - Deborah Louise Thomas, formerly of Cambridgeport, Vt., and Florence, Mass., passed away suddenly on Sept. 15, 2013. Born Aug. 23, 1934 in Burlington, Vt., Deborah was raised in an extensive and loving family. She attended Bellows Falls High School, Bellows Falls, Vt.; Bryant College, Providence, R.I.; and worked for 34 years at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Mass. Deborah (Smith) married Fred J. Galarneau in 1955 who died in 1965; and Stephen A. Thomas in 1971 who died in 2004. Upon retirement in 1995, she and Steve moved from Florence to Sun City West where she enjoyed a variety of activities and clubs before discovering her artistic passion for clay and became an accomplished potter. Also, much to her surprise, Debbie became an avid sports fan, watching countless hours of professional basketball. She was the beloved mother of Charlene Galarneau (Don Tucker) of Cambridge, Mass., Michele Gregg (Darryl) of Nottingham, N.H., and Lisa Galarneau-Belisle (Mark) of Columbus, Ohio; caring step-mother of Christiana Thomas of Madison, Conn., and Heidi Thomas of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A private burial service will be held in Mass. Memorial gifts in Debbie's honor may be made to the Sun City West Clay Club, c/o Jim Herr (President), 15606 W Heritage, Sun City West, AZ, 85375, or to Helping Hands, a medical and other equipment loan project of the Sun City West Foundation, Inc., 14465 RH Johnson Blvd., Sun City West, AZ, 85375, http://www.scwfoundation.org/helpinghands.html
