David Richard Pierce, was born on December 22, 1939 to the late Leslie Oliver and Mabel Katherine Pierce.He passed on May 31, 2017 leaving behind his high school sweetheart and loving wife Louise (Humbert) and two daughters, Tina (Tom) Munker and Kim (Grant) Hewitt, as well as six grandchildren Travis Waterman, Cody (Amanda) Waterman, Noah Pierce, Rebekah (Jance) Nave, Gabriel (Rebecca) Nelson, Isaac Nelson and six greatgrandchildren. David's sister Donalda of Ft. Wayne, IN also survives. Dave was born in Hillsboro, Kansas and spent his early years in Strong City and Cottonwood Falls.Leslie took a position of caretaker at Mount Hope Cemetery and moved the family to Topeka where Dave graduated from Washburn Rural High School. Dave went on to attend Washburn University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1961. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for forty years before retiring.Dave had a love for automobiles. He owned and operated Lawrence Dragway with his wife for over ten years. He was active in the Topeka Corvette Club, National Council Corvette Club, and in his final years supported the Automotive Restoration Club of Sun City West. Dave also enjoyed playing golf, bowling and traveling the US with his wife. They eventually settled in Sun City West, Arizona.Memorial Services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 W. 17th in Topeka, KS. No services will be held in Arizona.The family is asking that donations and memorial gifts be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 R. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
