Date to turn on Glendale Glitters downtown lights is set

New feature allows residents to donate to charities on site

For a 29th year, Historic Downtown Glendale will be aglow for the holidays.

Glendale Glitters will turn on its light display throughout Murphy Park and downtown on Monday, Nov. 21, shortly after a kickoff event that begins at 6 p.m. The display will remain lit each night from 5 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 7.

Two years ago, COVID precautions did away with the annual Glendale Glitters crowd gathering event to officially turn on the display, and instead residents were allowed to take in the lights on their own. Shortly thereafter, the city decided to permanently trend away from the gathering, as well as the Glitters-ending gathering — Glendale Glitter & Glow — which had taken place as a celebratory end to the lights season.
