With Valentine’s Day earlier this week, it is a time to celebrate romance, but city of Phoenix officials and nonprofits are working this month to help teens spot the signs of an unhealthy romantic relationship.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and staff from Phoenix’s Human Services Department is going to local high schools to teach classes about healthy relationships and try to provide a lifeline to teens who may already be in an unhealthy one.
“Staff provides education on healthy relationships, identifying red flags and available community resources,” said Deputy Human Services Director Kevin Mattingly at last week’s Public Safety and Justice Subcommittee meeting.
