CUSD settles lawsuit with nicotine company Juul

A legal settlement was recently approved by the Chandler Unified School District governing board, but the amount wasn’t disclosed.

The board unanimously voted to accept a settlement with Juul Labs Inc., et al. The company makes the Juul electronic nicotine cigarette cartridges.

CUSD joins a large number of school districts benefiting from a lawsuit settlement involving about 10,000 plaintiffs, the Associated Press reported. In December, Juul announced it had settled suits with school districts, families of Juul users, city governments and Native American tribes for a total of $1.2 billion.
