CUSD board approves roof for Chandler High

School Facilities Division's $10.8M grant will cover cost

The only action item on the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board Nov. 13 regular meeting agenda was approved unanimously.

The lone action item was a $10.8 million contract with Concord General Contracting to put a new roof on Chandler High School’s main building. The district has negotiated a building renewal grant with the School Facilities Division of Arizona Department of Administration to fund 100% of the replacement.

Board member Kurt Rohrs asked why either negotiations or an apparent agreement with the School Facilities staff hadn’t been disclosed to the board. He pointed out that the roof project was on the list of items CUSD hoped to pay for with a $487 million bond sent to voters to approve this month, though that vote looks like it won’t pass as of this writing.
