Curbing the unethical use of AI in Valley school districts

Educators look at ways to manage student use with advancements in AI tools

Dealing with cheating students has never been the easiest task, but with advancements in artificial intelligence, it may make the job harder for teachers and other school staff to stay on top of students’ academic integrity.

New tools like ChatGPT have caused a concern from educators about how teachers can best help their students. But in a 2023 Stanford University survey, researchers found that the number of high school students cheating has remained the same since the popularization of ChatGPT and other AI tools of the same vein.

Cheating student numbers remain stagnant, but universities and local school districts have begun to examine how to best manage new AI technologies in the classroom to aid students in their education.
