Technical rescue crews Thursday night freed a woman whose leg was wedged between two boulders at Pinnacle Peak Park in Scottsdale.
The 20-year-old woman told rescuers she had been stuck for nearly two hours before another hiker heard her cries for help and called 911, according to the Scottsdale Fire Department.
Rescue crews from Scottsdale and Phoenix found the woman who had been free-climbing alone trapped on a 50-foot cliff.
Scottsdale rescuers “were able to use a high angle, using leverage and water solution to lift her out from between the boulders,” officials stated on a social media site.
Paramedics treated the woman for dehydration and took her to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Scottsdale fire officials provided these hiking safety tips:
Have a plan and let someone know where you are hiking.
Have a charged cell phone.
Hydrate before hiking and turn back to the trailhead when halfway done with water taken on the hike.
