Crews battled firework-related blazes

Some Valley fire departments saw an unwanted glow over the July 4 weekend.

That glow didn’t come from a professional firework show from one of the municipalities— but rather from mishandling of fireworks that led to structures catching fire.

In Glendale, fire crews put out five structure fires and two vehicle fires from July 3 to July 5 as a result of fireworks, according to Capt. Ashley Losch, public information officer with the Glendale Fire Department.
