An accessory crematory can be constructed for a funeral home in the Sun Valley Plaza shopping center on the northwest corner of Main Street and Sossaman Road, the Mesa Board of Adjustment decided recently.
James Robinson requested a permit for an accessory crematory use at an existing funeral home at 7530 E. Main St.
“The zoning on the site is limited to commercial, and a funeral home is a permitted use in the LC district. An accessory crematory, however, requires the approval of a special-use permit,” Mesa Planner Kellie Rorex said during an April 7 board study session.
