Residents in north Peoria are well aware that motorists cruise at high speeds on State Route 74, the main gateway into Lake Pleasant, one of the city’s top attractions, especially during the summer.
Greg Gleicke is one of those residents. Earlier this year, he received a call that his granddaughter had been in a wreck at the intersection of Castle Hot Springs Road and SR 74, more commonly known as Carefree Highway.
Luckily, both parties were not injured, he said, but the other car was going so fast that all airbags deployed and the guardrail went about halfway through the engine, totaling the vehicle.
