Coyotes say their Glendale bills are paid

City continues to ‘monitor the situation’ with Dec. 20 deadline looming

The Arizona Coyotes appear to be out of the red as it relates to outstanding bills owed to the city of Glendale and the state of Arizona.

Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps on Dec. 8 sent a letter to Coyotes team president Xavier Gutierrez informing him that due to outstanding taxes and back rent in excess of $1.3 million — $250,000 of which is owed to the city — the Coyotes will be evicted from Gila River Arena, their home since 2003, by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20.

A Coyotes source on Tuesday, Dec. 14, confirmed that all payments were made this past Thursday, Dec. 9, and that the Coyotes are current on all bills and tax liabilities.
