The Arizona Coyotes won Friday night after trailing by four goals in an ironic twist of timing. The last time the franchise pulled off that kind of magic, they were breaking ground on the building that they just left behind.
On a night already full of emotion and nostalgia, the Coyotes skated off the ice at Gila River Arena in Glendale — their home since 2003 — with a remarkable 5-4 win over the playoff-bound Nashville Predators.
The Predators had blown things open early, bursting out to a 4-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game. That led to the boo-birds coming out on a night 15,123 fans packed the arena, and threatened to end the Coyotes’ historic night on a real downer.
