COVID funds could spark park progress in Surprise

Council wants faster track for Countryside

Since city officials last year announced the creation of a park next to Countryside Elementary School, the Surprise City Council has eagerly awaited its construction.

It will have eight multi-purpose fields, restrooms and plenty of parking. But most importantly it will take relief off the heavy use of other city parks.

Despite construction costs exploding and shortages of materials a pressing problem, city officials are hoping to be about six months away from work starting on the park, thanks to money the city has received from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
