COVID-19 temporarily closed the doors at Betty’s Rooste

Restaurant now open again

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of facilities, businesses and restaurants in Sun City West.

Until Dec. 2, Betty’s Rooste, 14418 W Meeker Blvd., avoided having to close down aside from the state mandate. But an employee attended a Thanksgiving gathering with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Upon learning the information, Betty’s Rooste owner Liz “Betty” Varner closed the doors to the restaurant. All five employees were tested and one test returned positive.

“My best estimation is we lost about $8,000 in revenue during that time, plus we lost a good deal of food and pastries,” she explained.
