COVID-19 sowing challenges for public participation at Legislature

The Arizona Legislature — the group of elected leaders who craft our laws — is preparing to begin its 2021 session with little known plans about virtual, public participation.

The 2021 Arizona Legislature session is scheduled to begin on Monday, Jan. 11, and while other states have put plans in place for virtual participation amid COVID-19, Arizona has not, one lobbyist says.

Elected officials and political lobbyists representing the Town of Paradise Valley agree, this year’s Arizona State Legislature may be a work in progress amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
