COVID-19 outbreak at San Tan Valley elementary school closes some classes

Because of an outbreak COVID-19 among 44 students at Ellsworth Elementary in San Tan Valley in Pinal County, all fifth- and sixth-grade classes at that school will temporarily move to remote learning through Friday, Aug. 13.

The school year started in late July.

Ellsworth Elementary will remain open to students in grades Pre-K through 4, according to a letter written by Gregory A. Wyman, superintendent of the J.O. Combs Unified School District. The letter was distributed to the media and members of the “Combs Community.”
