The Arizona Department of Health Services reported the number of COVID-19 cases in Goodyear’s 85338 and 85395 ZIP codes was 5,969 as of Friday, Dec. 25, and for the first time in months downgraded Maricopa County’s community spread benchmarks to substantial.

The number of new cases in Goodyear this week was 451, 100 fewer than the 551 new weekly cases reported last Friday.

Dr. Cara Christ, ADHS director, continued to urge residents to be cautious about gathering on the holiday.
