Allowing covered patios attached to single-residences within the required rear setback in Sunland Springs Village is one of seven items before the Mesa Board of Adjustment on March 2.
A minor modification of an approved planned area development to allow the covered patios is being sought for the 26 single residence lots that back up to the retention area on South Willow Wood and South Lindenwood, in an area east of South Signal Butte Road and south of East Guadalupe Road.
The board meets for a study session at 5 p.m. and a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the lower City Council Chambers, 57 E. First St. in Mesa.

Allowing covered patios attached to single-residences within the required rear setback in Sunland Springs Village is one of seven items before the Mesa Board of Adjustment on March 2.
A minor modification of an approved planned area development to allow the covered patios is being sought for the 26 single residence lots that back up to the retention area on South Willow Wood and South Lindenwood, in an area east of South Signal Butte Road and south of East Guadalupe Road.
The board meets for a study session at 5 p.m. and a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the lower City Council Chambers, 57 E. First St. in Mesa.
The board is to continue to its April 6 meeting a request for a special use permit to allow a comprehensive sign plan for a church at 2130 E. University Drive in the single residence and multiple residence districts.
Items on the March 2 agenda are requests for:
A development incentive permit to allow deviations from certain development standards for a wellness center east of Gilbert Road on the north side of Brown Road in the office commercial district.
A variance from the required rear and side yard setback to allow for the construction of a new home at 9558 E. Julep Circle.
A special use permit to allow a comprehensive sign plan for an industrial and commercial development at 10436 E. Elliot Road in the light industrial district with a planned area development overlay.
A special use permit to allow a comprehensive sign plan for a recreational facility in the light industrial and leisure and recreation district. It is within the east side of the 6000 to 6600 block of South Ellsworth Road, the south side of the 9200 to 9800 blocks of East Williams Field Road alignment and the west side of the 6200 to 6600 blocks of South Crismon Road alignment.
A special use permit to allow a comprehensive sign plan for a university development north of Main Street and west of Mesa Drive in the downtown core downtown event district.
Mesa Board of Adjustment meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month at the City Council Chambers, 57 E. First St. The seven-member board conducts public meetings to hear and decide requests for variances, special-use permits and interpretations of the city of Mesa zoning ordinance and sign code. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years, according to the city’s website.
