County declares Peoria Unified's Parkridge Elementary School an outbreak

Due to an increase in positive cases, Maricopa County Department of Public Health has declared Parkridge Elementary School an outbreak, according a letter from the Peoria Unified School District.

Parkridge, 9970 W. Beardsley Road, had two student cases and one staff case during the weeek of Oct. 4-8, according to the PUSD COVID-19 dashboard. The school has had a total of 11 cases since the first day of school, Aug. 4. There were 169 cases district-wide, Oct. 4-8 and 1,471 cumulative cases district-wide since Aug. 4.

MCDPH defines an outbreak as two positive COVID-19 cases within a 14-day period who do not share a household.
