Coronavirus cases in Maricopa County are coming in higher than recent weeks’ average, even as deaths fluctuate around the region.
Data from the Maricopa County Department of Public Health reported 456 new cases of COVID-19 Friday and three new deaths. It marked the fourth day this week the new number of cases was well above the seven-day rolling average. The number of deaths fell below the rolling average and has been fluctuating back and forth the week.
While coronavirus cases had fallen to March levels through August, the number of cases was rising slowly as September progressed, and the first full week of October has seen cases in the 400 to 500 per day range.
