County attorney aims to combat organized retail theft

Protection is key in Sun Cities

Local retailers are falling victim to theft, and Sun Cities residents could fall victims as stores have seen an increase in organized efforts.

Retailers are taking steps to combat the issue, but customers are at risk, according to Maricopa County Attorney’s Office officials.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced the indictment of Yosvany Maza Portilla Oct. 23. Portilla is accused of stealing cosmetics from stores in the greater Phoenix area over a period of eight months, according to a Maricopa County Attorney’s Office press release. Portilla hit Ulta and Sephora stores throughout Maricopa County.
