Councilman donates 2020 salary to Surprise businesses

Hastings fulfills pledge to donate council pay

New City Councilman Jack Hastings has fulfilled his promise to donate his 2020 salary on the Surprise City Council because he started his term early.

Mr. Hastings, who successfully fought to start serving in November after beating an appointed councilman in the August primary election, spread nearly $3,000 around to various places in the city.

The most went to Chef Peter’s Bistro, 17300 N. Sun Village Parkway, which received a little more than $778.
