Council works out complicated budget

Gov. Katie Hobbs’ recent veto of a repeal of food tax clarified only one of dozens of important variables that affect Arizona municipal budgets for Fiscal Year 2024.

At a pair of late-March meetings, the Chandler City Council discussed its budget and its strategic direction in several areas. These meetings ironed out a small portion of changes and continuations in the way the city will spend its FY24 budget.

The Fiscal Year 2023 Chandler budget is about $1.35 billion.
