Letter by Frank Copple of Sun City West
Dear ACC commissioners, please vote no on the SRP new fossil fuel expansion.
First, their proposal is their only solution brought forward and was proposed in less than a month’s time.
To spend almost $1 billion in a public utility project of this magnitude without taking any other solution into consideration is a slap in the face to their customers and this state.
Second, natural gas generation is still a polluting fossil fuel, which they will have to purchase! Arizona has over 300 sun days of “free” source for generation using solar cells and storage batteries. This is not a new technology and being used all over the United States.
Thirdly, and this is a difficult one for me to even write about as I see man’s inhumanity to man occurring every day in the Ukraine. That is SRP’s inhumane treatment of the town of Randolph. Just because the citizens are primarily of color does not give SRP carte blanche to treat them as their ancestors were in our South. That was a time I know we all would like to forget.
It is time to take major actions to reverse climate change for the next generations and a more livable planet.
