Copeland: Responds to critique of ‘border’ governors

The letter from Gordon Burhop (“Questions motives of ‘border’ govs,” Daily Independent, Sept. 25, 2021) begs a response. He wonders why 24-plus governors should be meeting with President Biden about border issues when only four governors live in border states.

The reason the other governors are involved in this discussion is because when illegals arrive in the four border states they do not stay there, they are shipped to other U.S. states, often without the consent of the governor of that state.

Their input on this issue is important.

This may be a political issue because many governors do not want illegal aliens dropped willy-nilly on their doorstep by the Biden administration — without any say by them on this matter.  Next time you vote, remember what is being foisted on you and your state without your permission.
