Controversial Old Town zoning request goes to Scottsdale City Council

Request needs to be approved by 5 of seven city council members

A controversial rezoning request for a three-story building to house a restaurant called Swags in Old Town will go before the Scottsdale City Council Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The developer wants to rezone the 0.29-acre site at 7323 E. Shoeman Lane from central business parking downtown overlay to downtown/downtown multiple use type-3 parking downtown overlay.

The third story of the proposed building would be a rooftop terrace. The new building would fit inside the footprint of the current building. It will offer new 10-foot-wide sidewalks along East Shoeman Lane and North Wells Fargo Avenue, according to a city staff report.
