Food City is searching for the state’s best tamale-makers through its annual tamale-making contest.

The 22nd annual holiday tradition returns at noon this Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Food City store located at 2124 E. McDowell Road in Phoenix.

A panel of judges will name the top three tamales of the year after tasting entries received from tamale-makers across the state.

Eight tamale-making finalists hailing from Phoenix, Avondale, Glendale and Quartzsite will participate. The event is open to the public.

Food City will recognize the top three best tamale makers with prizes, including: $1,000 in furniture from Del Sol Furniture (first place), a $300 Food City gift card (second place), and a $200 Food City gift card (third place).

The top three will be announced between 1:30 and 2 p.m.
