Contemporary Dance Festival on its way to Tempe

A weekend of performances, master classes and social events featuring some of the most important voices in contemporary dance, the Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival is coming to Tempe Center for the Arts.

Curated by a panel of nationally recognized adjudicators, this annual festival features cutting-edge choreographers, filmmakers and performers from Arizona and around the nation.

The 2023 Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival will take place over the course of two days, Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway.

Tickets start at are $20 and are available at tempecenterforthearts.com.

The Festival includes Liliana Gomez’s work, which examines her cultural heritage and the concept of one’s homeland; Bobby Morgan’s piece which combines vogue, jazz and contemporary dance; and Carley Conder’s piece which is a collaboration with visual artist Kris Manzanares, costume designer Cari Smith and musician DJ Panic.
