Some Tortilla Flat business owners seem content with the progress of having a connection to the Valley after Arizona Department of Transportation officials announced plans to restore access to a stretch of the historic Apache Trail.
Last month, ADOT announced it would spend $4 million for an interim plan “designed to restore the unpaved roadway to a condition that can accommodate vehicles with high clearance” or four-wheel drive, as well as utility terrain vehicles along state Route 88, which runs from Apache Junction in the west to Roosevelt Dam in the east, a press release stated.
Construction on the project is underway, but officials have not identified a completion date.
