Congressional districts: Boundaries or barriers for intimidation?

Sun City West reader: don’t yield, send a strong message in November

OPINION — Changes to congressional district boundaries cause one to ask, what is the purpose of new lines drawn? And what is the difference between a boundary and a barrier?

Both essentially draw a line for similar but distinct purposes. A boundary invites connection with protection; a barrier is a fear-based wall to protect self at the expense of connection.

Consider the boundary of a fence with a gate. It establishes a line but invites entrance by the gate. A prison yard chain-link fence with barbed wire on top is a fear-based border. Cross it and there are serious repercussions.
