A March 10 Surprise City Hall meeting with residents north of the Sun Valley Parkway on the city’s proposed property maintenance ordinance at times threatened to widen the communication gap it was designed to close.
This meeting was set up at the February City Council meeting, where the council decided to continue a vote on the revamped ordinance until April 19. The meeting was envisioned as a chance for residents can learn about the ordinance, ask questions and provide feedback.
Instead it often was a rehash of previous arguments between residents of rural ranch properties north of Deer Valley Road and west of 219th Avenue.
