Concrete banks going up at Sun City lake

Wind damage does not slow project much

What looked to be another delay for the Viewpoint Lake liner replacement project turned out to be just a blip in the schedule.

The contractor was ready to start the application of the concrete bank April 26. But wind overnight April 25-26 lifted a large section of liner on the slopes near Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., taking the rebar and mesh intended to re-enforce the concrete bank with it. But Pacific Aquascape crews were able to replace the liner and other material fairly quickly.

“We had some wind damage, but that was resolved yesterday,” Bill Cook, Recreation Centers of Sun City general manager, told the board during its April 27 meeting.
