Conchas files suit against Glendale, council members

Seeks return to Cactus District seat

Former Glendale Council Member Lupe Conchas filed a lawsuit against all six remaining council members in their official capacity and the city Thursday night, less than 12 hours after the council voted him out of his seat as Cactus District representative by a 4-3 margin.

On May 28, two days after it received legal advice about a conflict of interest between Conchas receiving a form of compensation for his service on the Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District board, Mayor Jerry Weiers and Councilmembers Lauren Tolmachoff, Ray Malnar and Dianna Guzman voted for his removal from office.

The 12-page lawsuit was filed in Maricopa County Superior Court and asks a judge to invalidate the council’s ruling.
