Surprise residents blast council, mayor over speaker's arrest

City still dealing with fallout from controversial incident

It took about a week to go viral, but the Aug. 20 arrest of Surprise resident Rebekah Massie spread across the world online and on national news networks.

Thanks to YouTube influencers, videos of the arrest have amassed more than a million views.

News radio giant NPR ran audio clips of the confrontation between Massie and Mayor Skip Hall multiple times.
