Desert Ridge Marketplace will host Light the World Giving Machines this holiday season, joining cities across Arizona and around the world. These unique ‘vending machines in reverse’ make it easy for visitors to donate directly to those in need in their own community and across the globe.
The Giving Machines will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 10–31, 2025 at Desert Ridge Marketplace, just north of the Loop 101 on Tatum Boulevard, with additional machines in Gilbert, Queen Creek, Show Low, Prescott, Snowflake, Gila Valley, and Tucson.
The Light the World initiative aims to increase community unity through loving and caring for those in need in simple and meaningful ways. Giving Machine visitors can purchase and donate items ranging from warm clothing for a child, groceries for a family, or job training for the underemployed and even livestock for communities across the globe.
The Giving Machine nonprofit beneficiaries include:
• Angels on Patrol
• Dysart Community Center
• House of Refuge Sunnyslope
• Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation
• Hope Women's Center
• Days for Girls (Global Charity)
• Mentors International (Global Charity)
“Giving through the Light the World Giving Machine means joining police officers in acts of compassion that build a stronger, safer community,” said Melinda Cadena, Executive Director of Angels on Patrol. “Your support allows us to respond instantly when an officer meets someone in crisis by providing shelter, food, and safety for those with nowhere else to turn.”
Phoenix residents will be contributing to a movement that has raised nearly $50 million worldwide since 2017. In Arizona alone, generous donors have contributed more than $6.7 million to local and global charities through the Giving Machines. Each donation, no matter the size, helps meet immediate needs and create lasting change.
Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Giving Machines make charitable giving quick and impactful. Items range in price from $5 to $250 and include staples such as clothing, hygiene items, meals and school supplies to livestock and life-saving medicine.
