Volunteers carry a major load for various organizations, without the salary often compensated for the amount of hours and work put in by these individuals.
The Dysart Unified School District has more than 2,200 cleared volunteers ready to work. Since this past summer, more than 400 volunteers have been added and higher than in recent years.
“We have a lot of parents that do the outside school volunteering such as booster clubs and Parent Teacher Association of about 40% and the other 60% volunteer during the school day,” said Sherry Owens, volunteer and compliance specialist.
