The 124th birthday of Sun City founder Del E. Webb was observed May 17 with special events in both Sun City and Sun City West.
The Sun Cities Area Historical Society, owners of the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum, presented its annual observance of Webb’s birthday with a special program at the museum, 10801 W. Oakmont Drive, Sun City. A.J. Kovac presented the lecture, “Del Webb: An American Success Story,” and Renewed Life Properties and The Conrad Team sponsored refreshments provided by The Snowy Churro.
About 100 visitors toured the museum that day. The museum features one room entirely devoted to the story of Del E. Webb and the company he built. Exhibits feature personal items that once belonged to Webb, as well as awards and items related to his time as part owner of the New York Yankees.
