Commends Dysart for warning parents about walk-out

OPINION — I commend the Dysart Unified School District for the advance warning they sent to parents explaining their policy on unexcused student absence as explicitly outlined in the student handbook.

Sure, kids have a right to protest, but they do not have the right to walk out of class at will. They could have held their protest after school (preferably after having discussed it with their parents), but they wanted the headlines.

Parents have a right to assume their children are at school when they have been taken there. Your article states that security guards checked ID to allow seniors to leave and keep others on campus but you quote a Paradise Honors sophomore as being there.
