Collision in Phoenix leaves 1 dead, 2 hospitalized

Phoenix police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning at 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

The crash happened about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 8 and involved a small SUV and a two-door car.

 Luis Vitales, 24, died at the scene, and two women in the car were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive, police said.

Collision in Phoenix leaves 1 dead, 2 hospitalized

Phoenix police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning at 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

The crash happened about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 8 and involved a small SUV and a two-door car.

 Luis Vitales, 24, died at the scene, and two women in the car were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive, police said.

Detectives investigating said information indicates white SUV, driven by Vitales, ran the red light at 35th Avenue while heading eastbound on Roosevelt Street and collided with the other vehicle, which was heading northbound on 35th Avenue.

Vitales was ejected from his vehicle.

The collision remains under investigation.
