Colleges helping in the labor trade shortage

Some Maricopa Community Colleges across the Valley are implementing labor trade classes to their roster

Local community colleges in the Valley are helping the state’s fast growing labor workforce in efforts to meet various construction projects throughout the region.

The Maricopa Community Colleges in partnership with the Greater Phoenix Chamber have worked together to create labor trade classes to be available at colleges across the region to give residents a chance to receive and education and skills in select labor trade roles.

Jennifer Mellor, chief innovation officer for the GPC, has worked with the college district campaign of the Build Your Future AZ. The campaign’s mission is to create a sustainable and skilled craft workforce by creating awareness of high-paying construction careers and training opportunities. They are led by a committee comprised of leading employers looking to create the next generation of the labor trade workforce.
