SUN CITY WEST - Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on March 15, 2013. Clifford, also known as "Pinky", was a brilliant, kind and gentle soul that will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends. Clifford was born in Omaha, Neb. on May 6, 1920. Clifford married Marjorie Jane Van deVenter and recently celebrated their 70th year anniversary. Together they had two daughters and two sons. In 1942, Clifford went into the service as a Radar Officer and was soon promoted to Generals Aid due to being fluent in French. He was released due to an injury and was able to attend medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on a GI bill. He was a family practitioner in North Platte for 18 years. He then specialized in anesthesiology and was an anesthesiologist for 21 years. Once retired, he and his wife moved to Sun City West, AZ in 1986. Clifford is survived by his beloved children, Kathee (Jay) Larson of Wahoo, Neb., Susie Watton of Lincoln, Neb., Bruce (Eileen) Pinkerton of Billings, Mont., and Mark (Tess) Pinkerton of Olathe, Kansas; as well as his 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive, Sun City West, AZ 85375. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Memo Ike's Family Fund, PO Box 8960, Springfield, MO 65801 or ikesonline.com. This memorial supports several small orphanages in Ethiopia and is in memory of Clifford's grandson, Isaac Pinkerton.
