17-piece ensemble takes on ‘Sgt. Pepper’

Classic Albums Live pays tribute to The Beatles and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album release 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road, Wickenburg.

Classic Albums Live, a concert series founded in 2003 and based in Toronto, Ontario, features musicians who perform an iconic rock album from start to finish as if you just “put the needle on the record.”

Every detail of the “Sgt. Pepper” album will be performed with precision from the 17-piece ensemble, made up of professional studio musicians and vocalists. Instruments include rock and roll staples - guitars, piano and drums - but this show also features a percussion, string and horn section to provide the necessary full array of sound that is produced on the album.

“Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is one of the most legendary albums in the history of rock and roll, and will be performed live on stage note for note, cut for cut.

The musicians go to great lengths to faithfully recreate every sound on the original album. They have performed with orchestras, sitarists, choirs and schools. The shows are treated like recitals with the album being performed in its entirety. After intermission the concert continues with a compilation of the Beatles’ greatest hits.

Tickets are available for Classic Albums Live’s Wickenburg concert. Prices start at $45, and tickets are $5 for youth under 18.

Call the Webb Center’s Box Office at 928-684-6624 to reserve seats or visit dewpac.org for a full schedule of events, artist information, and to watch video previews.
