A resident of Santa Barbara, Calif., Dixon earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Massachusetts.
The release stated that his first book, “The Lost Gettysburg Address,” told the unusual story of Texas slaveholder Charles Anderson, the brother of Maj. Robert Anderson, the defender of Fort Sumter.
Dixon has spoken to Civil War groups from coast to coast and hosts B-List History, a website that specializes in featuring the stories of lesser-known and obscure Civil War-era participants. His latest book is “Radical Warrior: August Willich’s Journey from German Revolutionary to Civil War General.”
Dixon’s lecture will begin at 5 p.m. in the Copper Auditorium located on the lower level of the Civic Center branch of the Scottsdale Public Library. Doors open at 4 p.m. Guests can come early to meet the author, members and guests as well as browse the books.
