City of Scottsdale to operate ambulance service

State agency awards certificate of necessity Monday

The City of Scottsdale will have its own ambulance service.

The Arizona Department of Health Services awarded the City of Scottsdale last week a certificate of necessity to form the service. It was the last hurdle in the process to create a city-owned ambulance service.

“Scottsdale Fire receiving the certificate of necessity is a milestone in our history,” Mayor David Ortega said in a text message to the Daily Independent.
