Meetings, inspections on schedule but project review times have been extended
It’s isn’t full-on business as usual thanks to COVID-19 coronavirus mitigation measures, but the city of Goodyear is continuing to conduct business at City Hall and other city buildings as of Monday, March 23.
The City Council’s special and regular meetings scheduled for 5 and 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers, 14455 W. Van Buren St., Suite B101, remained on the docket and residents were encouraged to watch it via the city’s live stream at goodyearaz.gov or via the city’s Facebook page.
“We are encouraging people to watch online,” city spokeswoman Corinne Holliday said via email. “We are also taking precautions in chambers to create social distancing” in council chambers.

Special meeting agenda items include possible executive sessions to discuss economic development opportunities and labor negotiations.
Regular meeting agenda items include a public hearing on a proposed amendment to remove minimum lot width and minimum net site area requirements in General Commercial and Neighborhood Commercial districts so long as the parcel is within a unified commercial development intended for three or more businesses, and the center has all necessary cross-access, shared parking and access easements necessary to meet minimum parking and maneuvering requirements.
Goodyear City Hall, 190 N Litchfield Road, and Development Services and Engineering, 14455 W. Van Buren St., Suite D, also were open Monday, but city officials asked via the city’s coronavirus information page goodyearaz.gov/residents/coronavirus-info, that residents go online as much as possible to submit things like bill payments, and developers and business owners submit documents for their projects electronically.
In a March 19 memo on the city’s website, Development Services Director Christopher Baker and Engineering Director Rebecca Zook advised that review times for building, planning and engineering projects would take an additional three to five business days.
Most inspections were running on schedule, but those scheduling inspections were advised to make appointments several days out to accommodate for possible delays, they said in the memo.
