Julie Karins bids ‘bittersweet’ farewell as Goodyear city manager

Since 2018, City Manager Julie Karins held the top unelected leadership position at the city of Goodyear.

But shortly after her fifth anniversary with the city this month, Karins will bid the southwest Valley a “bittersweet” farewell for a county management position in the Midwest, closer to her family.

Karins (previously Arrendall) led the city during a time of tremendous growth and change. She was with the city during the onset of pandemic lockdowns in early 2020 and the following months and years of COVID precautions. Karins was also present for the leadership transition that took place following the death of Mayor Georgia Lord in December 2021.
