The company that produced a vehicle being used in Peoria’s recently relaunched autonomous vehicle pilot program suddenly closed Friday.
The city has worked with autonomous vehicle provider Beep during the past few years to bring a driverless vehicle program to the city and during that time contracted with startup manufacturer of autonomous vehicles Local Motors, which closed Friday.
While the company has not released an official statement about the closure, Chandler-based Local Motors’ former vice president of sales and customer success has confirmed the closure.
