ARIZONA ELECTIONS 2024

Ciscomani, Engel face off on border, abortion at Congressional District 6 debate

Incumbent Rep. Juan Ciscomani and challenger Kirsten Engle squared off Tuesday night in a debate over who is better off to represent Arizona’s 6th Congressional District.

Ciscomani, a Republican first elected in 2022, is running for re-election this November. He is defending his seat against Democrat Kirsten Engel, who narrowly lost to Ciscomani two years ago. During the debate, the two candidates clashed over immigration and abortion and other issues.

When it came to immigration, Engel criticized Ciscomani for his opposition to the 2024 bipartisan border bill. Engel said Ciscomani caved to former President Donald Trump, who opposed the bill. Engel claimed the bipartisan bill would have helped address issues at the border, but Ciscomani voted against it to earn political points rather than to find a solution.
